STORY
Delight and Views:
A quaint cottage turns itself out with dramatically improved natural light and views of the prairie it always intended to capture.
For the homeowners of this quaint cottage, it was love at first sight. The exposed timber beams, wood paneling and cedar shake roofing brought the delight, but the cramped ceilings and lack of light and storage presented a challenge. Mitlyng Design designed a renovation and expansion toward the back of the home that showcases a larger kitchen without soffits and a new study as a reflective space. They also added minimal touches to the front of the home that fill the space with more natural light, making it livable and functional all while maintaining the cottage-feel. The soul of this home is now celebrated in a common Craftsman-style language throughout with sweeping views of the prairie at the homeowners’ beck and call.
